How We Create Our Content: Editorial Standards and AI Disclosure

All About Swiss is a practical guide to Switzerland for visitors and for people planning a longer stay. This page explains who writes our content, how we research and check it, how we use AI tools, and how we earn money from the site.

Who writes our content

Articles on this site are published under the byline of Laura Meier, a pen name. Behind it is a real contributor, and the site is edited and published by the team behind gotravelyourself.com, which also operates our sister sites. Our writers and editors overlap by design: they are experienced independent travellers with broad experience of solo travel and expat life, they have contributed to the parent site in different ways (writing, reviewing articles, gathering facts, admin and sponsorship support), and they now focus mainly on their own regional sites.

We use pen names for the reasons set out on the parent site’s editorial standards page: some contributors cannot publish under their legal names, and others prefer not to attach their identity and location history to a public byline. Here is what we guarantee about every pen-named byline:

  • There is one real person behind each pen name, writing consistently under that name.
  • Every biographical and experience claim in an author bio is true of the actual person. Where protecting identity requires it, we make a true claim less specific; we never make a false claim more impressive.
  • Pen-named writers author articles and guides. They do not write testimonials, reviews presented as independent opinion, or endorsements.
  • Author images are illustrations, not photographs of real people presented under another name.

The publisher stands behind everything published under a pen name, and editorial responsibility rests with us whoever signs the article.

How we research and check our articles

Official sources first. For prices, timetables, opening dates and rules we rely on the operators and authorities themselves: SBB and Swiss Travel System for rail and passes, the resorts for lift tickets, city and tourist-board sites for events, and federal and cantonal sources for permits, insurance and tax.

Dated figures. Where a figure depends on a season or a year, we say which one, for example “2026/27” or “2026 and 2027”. Prices that have not been confirmed for the current season are labelled as such, and we tell you to check before you book.

Regular rechecks. We recheck time-sensitive pages (ski pass prices, Christmas market dates, seasonal rail pauses, Swiss Travel Pass prices and cost-of-living statistics) at least once a year, normally in the autumn before the winter season. Older articles may predate this process, and we are working through them.

Honest about limits. We do not claim to have visited every place we describe. Where a page relies on official information rather than first-hand experience, it is written that way.

Our use of AI tools

We use AI writing and research tools as part of our process, to help draft, restructure, summarise and fact-check content. A human editor reviews the result before it is published and decides what goes live. AI tools are not a source of facts for this site: any price, date, rule or statistic that an AI tool suggests has to be confirmed against an official source before it stays in an article, and we remove or rewrite anything that cannot be confirmed.

AI tools make mistakes, and some older articles on this site were produced with earlier tools and have needed substantial correction. We have been reviewing and rewriting them, and we have merged or redirected articles that were repetitive or could not be verified. If you find something wrong, please tell us.

We do not use AI-generated photographs of people who do not exist, and we do not publish AI-generated reviews or testimonials.

How we make money

Some links on this site are affiliate links, for example to hotel, flight, tour and rail-pass booking services. If you book through one of them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We also display advertising on some pages. Commissions do not decide what we recommend or how we describe it, and we do not accept payment to feature a specific product in an article. Sponsored content, if we ever publish it, will be labelled as such.

Corrections

If you spot an error, such as an outdated price, a wrong date or a broken link, write to contact@allaboutswiss.com. We check substantiated corrections and fix them promptly.

Important information for travellers

Rules, prices and timetables in Switzerland change, and what is right for you depends on your nationality, residence status and plans. Treat this site as a starting point and confirm visa, permit, insurance, tax and transport details with the official source before you travel or move.
